Cold Feet star Robert Bathurst hints it might be the end for ITV comedy

Star teases decision has not been made about show's future

| Updated:

Cold Feet actor Robert Bathurst has claimed tonight’s episode of Cold Feet could be the ‘last ever’ of the ITV series.

The David Marsden star, 61, teased in a tweet on Sunday evening that there might not be a future for the popular comedy drama.

And during an appearance on Good Morning Britain earlier today Robert swerved a question about whether storylines would be wrapped up in Monday’s end-of-series episode by seeming to suggest the decision about further instalments was in the hands of TV bosses.

“ITV have to decide whether they want to go again,” Robert told hosts Richard Madeley and Kate Garraway.

“I mean, who knows? It might be the final one ever, it might be that we might go again.”

Robert, who has also starred in Downton Abbey and Toast, also noted producers would have to believe there is still life in the show’s core characters.

However, he did repeat his uncertainty about whether this eighth series – the third since it was revived after 13 years in 2016 – might be the final run.

“But who knows, it might be the last one tonight,” he said.

Scenes from Monday’s episode were also previewed on GMB – with Richard scoffing when he realised Jeremy Kyle would feature.

Explaining David’s row with ex Karen and her new man Adam was set on the ITV talk show as part of a dream sequence, Robert also touched on how the Cold Feet cast were convinced the original comeback could work.

Admitting the show’s stars felt it had been “of its time”, he revealed they got on board when they realised their characters would be allowed to “move on”.
