Baptiste viewers switch off over gruesome opening scenes

And they're never having their meter read again

Fans of drama The Missing have awaited the new series of spin off Baptiste with bated breathe.

Some loved it and can’t contain their excitement for the rest of the series, but others thought it was far too gruesome and switched off after the opening scenes – which made many vow to get a smart meter!

The first part of the episode saw a man walking along a beach collecting a shell before returning to his home to find a man waiting for him to read his meter.

As he happily let the guy into his home and waffled on about the rare shell he’d found, he had no idea what was about to befall him.

The meter reader was not a meter reader at all, but a killer who put a plastic bag over the guy’s head and suffocated him to death.

As if that wasn’t bad enough, he then stood over the body and started up a chainsaw ready to decapitate the man.

Viewers at home have now declared they will be getting a smart meter so no one has to read their meter ever again!

Others were really unhappy with the level of violence in the show and while some are persevering, many have decided to switch off due to the brutality of those opening scenes.

But many fans just couldn’t get enough and found it gripping and brilliant – especially the huge twist at the end where the severed head of the man from the beginning was seen once again.
