Richard Madeley apologises for his ‘Trump tan’ on GMB

Richard Madeley shocks GMB viewers with a very orange look

| Updated:

Good Morning Britain viewers were in for a shock Wednesday morning as Richard Madeley debuted a very orange tan indeed.

The 62-year-old telly presenting veteran kicked off GMB by waving maracas to the music of Gloria Estefan, but it was his ‘fake tan’ that had everyone talking.

He was standing in for Piers Morgan as he enjoys a holiday in Los Angeles, viewers flocked to Twitter to mock Richard’s new look.

One joked that he looked like Ross from the classic sitcom Friends writing: ‘I turn the TV on this morning to be greeted by Richard Madeley doing his best “Ross from Friends with a bad spray tan” impression’ while another quipped: ‘Has #RichardMadeley had a fight with a bottle of fake tan & let it win?!’

Several others compared Richard’s fake bake efforts to that of President Donald Trump, who of course hasn’t been seen without a spray tan in decades.

One Twitter user wrote: “Richard Madeley with his quiff & (fake) tan is starting to look like Donald Trump!’ and another joked: ‘#richardmadeley is a funny shade of Trump this Morning.”

Many even critiqued his fake-tanning technique. Some pointed out that Richard seemed to have forgotten to spray his ears, as they appeared multiple shades lighter than his bronzed face.

A user complained the close-ups of Richard were ‘cruel’ writing: “Stop showing Richard in profile, it is cruelly exposing his fake tan with his white ear,” and a second claimed: “Richard’s ear is 10 shades paler than the rest of his face.”

Richard himself admitted: “It’s looking a bit orange today. It can only be make-up I think?

“There is a tan underneath it. Sorry everybody if it’s a bit pumpkin-like! I’ll take it down. I’ll wash it off.”

He regularly stands in for Piers Morgan on Good Morning Britain, and has recently become known for causing a bit of a stir.

Prone to rambling and even swearing on air, just this week he told London mayor Sadiq Khan “there’s no point dicking about” with air pollution and even swore while speaking to The Voice UK winner Molly Hocking.
