Dancing On Ice star insists that she won’t fall victim to a ‘curse’

It's all about the skating

With the big Dancing On Ice comeback just a couple of months away, people have started feverishly speculating whether the ITV show will be blighted by a Strictly-style ‘curse’.

In case you’ve been living in a cave, that’s the one that’s seen a number of high-profile celebrity relationships come unstuck shortly after one of the partners has appeared on the dancing show.

Well, one DOI contestant who certainly isn’t afraid of becoming the victim of a curse is Coronation Street star Brooke Vincent.

The actress – who’s dating Oldham Athletic footballer Kean Bryan – is partnered with handsome skater Matej Silecky on the show, but insists that she’s totally focused on putting in a good performance.

When asked if she is worried about a curse, Brooke, 25, told OK! magazine: “No, not really – it’s not Strictly.

“I’m just looking at it as an amazing opportunity to learn a skill and have fun.”

Dancing On Ice may not have its own ‘curse’ just yet, but that’s not to say the show hasn’t contributed to the downfall of relationships in the past.

During the 2011 series, Hollyoaks actress Jennifer Metcalfe fell in love with her professional skating partner Sylvain Longchambon, only for him to dump her in favour of his partner on the 2013 series, Corrie’s Samia Ghadie. Those two are now married.

However, Brooke reiterated that the only thing on her mind is making a good account of herself on the ice.

She continued: “I’ve done so much preparation to get there that it’s about proving things to myself, such as taking constructive criticism and instruction from someone.”

Another contestant who’s determined to excel on the ice rink is Love Island’s Kem Cetinay.

The Essex lad has been practising loads, and he told the Evening Standard Online: “I just feel like I don’t wanna stop. I’m so motivated. At first, it was because I was so behind because of how busy I was. And then I started putting the hours in. I do about four hours every day.”

But Kem reckons that former X Factor star Jake Quickenden will be the one to beat.

And he even went so far as to say that his rival isn’t entirely playing by the rules (we’re sure he was joking).

He told the Standard Online: “Jake is very good. He’s skated before. He’s a cheater. I only found out the other day. I couldn’t believe it.”
