Dancing On Ice contestant fears he’ll be the show’s worst skater ever

He's been told he's not a natural

Who can forget how bad Todd Carty was when he appeared on Dancing On Ice?

The EastEnders star created some of the show’s most memorable moments with his terrible routines and slip ups, which included crashing into the set.

But now one of this year’s contestants thinks he will steal his crown as the king of bad skating.

Appearing on today’s Lorraine, Kem Cetinay admitted he isn’t a likely contender to win the show.

He told Lorraine Kelly: “I have never ice skated in my life. I’m not going to lie, it’s really hard and I’m struggling.”

Kem has joined his co-stars, including Jake Quickenden, Alex Beresford and Cheryl Baker, in training and he said he’s already struggling to keep up with them.

“I’ve seen everyone else doing well and they are doing all the moves. My trainer told me some people are naturals and some are not – and I’m not.”

The Love Island star said he’s still having to balance on the ice with the help of a supportive penguin used to help children learn to skate, and he joked he may need to incorporate it into his first live routine.

Explaining why he thinks it’s so difficult to skate, Kem said: “I’m struggling with putting one foot forward and one back as I’m so used to walking.

“It is so hard to coordinate.”

Kem appeared on Lorraine with his new best bud Chris Hughes as the pair talked about their friendship and their new fitness DVD.

Kem said at least all the strength training he’s been doing to get in shape for the workout DVD should help him on DOI.

The contestants are already practising for when the show returns in the New Year after a three year break.

They will be judged as usual by Jason Gardiner, but this time he will be joined by Diversity’s Ashley Banjo and Torvill and Dean, who swap mentoring for judging.

Holly Willoughy and Phillip Schofield also return as presenters.

Kem still has plenty of time to master his moves so we look forward to seeing if he has learned anything when the show hits our screens.

Although if he does have a few slip ups it would be entertaining!
