Dancing On Ice star hits back at viewers who have called for him to be SACKED

Matt Chapman's enthusiasm has left some fans cold...

Dancing On Ice’s new commentator, Matt Chapman, has responded to viewers claims that he should be sacked from the show after his first ever appearance on last night’s launch show.

Fans of the reality skating show took to Twitter in their droves to complain about Matt’s voiceover work – claiming he was “annoying”, “awful” and “needed to calm down”.

As well as his new job on Dancing On Ice, Matt also works on shows such as At The Races, the Racing Post, and Racing Channel, and is famous amongst racing fans.

Despite claims from Dancing On Ice viewers that he should be “fired straight away”, Matt took to his own Twitter account to defend his opening night in his new role.

In a very gracious tweet he thanked fans for their comments and told them that he’ll “try and win them over in the next nine shows”.

The sporting commentator even joked about mistakenly calling Jason Jayne in the live show…

There were even fans who asked why they had replaced DOI favourite, Tony Gubba, who used to do thew voiceover work on the show before it was taken off air…

Sadly Tony died back in 2013 – leaving Matt with some very big shoes to fill.

Despite leaving some fans cold with his commentating, there were plenty of viewers who did like Tony’s enthusiasm for ice skating…
