ITV viewers left cringing as Love Island’s Curtis Pritchard makes presenting debut on Lorraine

Not going to lie?

Dancer Curtis Pritchard hosted the showbiz news segment on Lorraine this morning (16.08.19), but it appears not everyone was a fan.

The Love Island star, 23, was on to chat with stand-in host Christine Lampard about upcoming shows and films – including what we can expect from the soaps next week and the biggest movies releasing in cinemas this month.

But some viewers took issue with Curtis’ presenting style, particularly his use of the phrase ‘I’m not going to lie’.

One exasperated viewer wrote on Twitter: “If Curtis says ‘I’m not going to lie’ once more…! #Lorraine.”

Another echoed that, writing: “If Curtis says I’m not going to lie one more time I will scream!! Get him off, not a natural #Lorraine.”

A third tweeted: “Curtis was horrendous. ‘I’m not gonna lie’. But OMG at least Fleur East and that god awful dull model isn’t on today #Lorraine.”

But not everyone was turned off, as some viewers loved having the professional dancer back on their screens following the end of Love Island 2019, where he placed fourth with Irish beauty Maura Higgins.

Someone wrote: “I’m not going to lie, I quite like Curtis on @reallorraine #Lorraine! See what I did there?!”

Another tweeted: “Thought Curtis did a great job on #Lorraine this morning. Needs to find a new word for ‘ngl’ though. Other than that, good job. #LoveIsland.”

Curtis, who stood in for regular showbiz presenter Dan, was also on to chat about his new job on BBC dance competition The Greatest Dancer.

Speaking about the exciting new role, he told Christine: “I am the receptionist, so basically, everybody that comes in – all of the contestants – they come to me first. And I’m learning a couple of different styles.

“You may even see me twerking at one point. Literally I just welcome them, make them feel comfortable, get to know them a little bit and then I send them off to do their life-changing performance.”

Christine said: “That’s where the nerves are, you see them all sort of looking at each other for competition. It’s actually quite a tense area, so you’re kind of managing that, I guess?

Curtis continued, nodding: “A lot of different emotions. Some people come in and they are completely zen, chilled out, relaxed, taking it easy. Some people are shaking, so nervous. Some people are just bouncing around the room. So it’s all controlling the nerves, controlling the energy.”

Curtis’ fans will get to see him on The Greatest Dancer when the programme returns for a second series in 2020.
