Corrie viewers already have a theory about who could save Carla Connor’s life

Who will be her hero?

| Updated:

Ever since Carla Connor sashayed back into Weatherfield, viewers have suspected that all is not as it seems with the former factory boss.

For one, she wasn’t drinking and – anyone who knows Carla will tell you – she’s one woman who likes a glass of wine.

She’s also been on something of a philanthropy mission – investing in Underworld with her brother Aidan and trying to bail BFF Michelle out of her money worries at the Bistro.

Last night Carla finally revealed what was bothering her – and it was heartbreaking.

During a touching heart to heart with Roy Cropper, Carla admitted she had kidney failure.

Good old Roy told her that she needed to face things head on, rather than hiding it from her family as she had been doing.

His pep talk continued as he told her she needed to get the help and support she needs, telling her: “I won’t stand by and watch someone else I love die.”

And fans just could not cope.

They took to Twitter to both praise the beautiful friendship between Roy and Carla, and to share their horror at Carla’s shock news.

“DO NOT LET CARLA DIE @itvcorrie. I REPEAT. DO NOT,” one fan fumed.

Another added: “What a beautiful scene between Carla and Roy,”

And a third even offered their own kidney to her, tweeting: “I would donate Carla a kidney 🙁 catching up and crying.”

Later fans saw a devastated Roy googling advice on how to donate a kidney, with many fans predicting he’ll step in and save the life of his close friend.

But others predicted Carla’s knight in shining armour could come from a very different place indeed – guessing that her ex husband, Peter Barlow, could provide a match.

“Peter should give Carla a kidney.. it’s the least he owes her and it’ll bring them back together,” said one fan, while another agreed, tweeting: “what if roy isn’t a match for carla and peter donates his kidney x in sickness and in health and all that x”

One person who definitely won’t be offering up an organ however is Tracy Barlow and it’s not just because her and Carla are mortal enemies.

Long term fans will know that Trace only has one kidney left after suffering failure as a child.
