When two characters in a soap have as much chemistry as Carla Connor and Peter Barlow it’s hard to believe they’re not together.
And now Alison King, who plays Carla, has hinted that there could be a reunion ahead for the pair – if their current relationships fall apart.
Carla and Peter were married but he was cheating on her with Tina McIntyre – and when Carla found out the truth she miscarried their baby.
Now Peter’s happily running the Rovers with new partner Toyah Battersby, while Carla’s enjoyed a fling with Daniel Osbourne and is now being wooed by Ali Neeson.
And when she returned to the Street at the end of last year, she was very quick to reassure Toyah that she had no interest in Peter whatsoever.
But somehow, the pair are drawn together. And Carla’s even stepped in to help with sulky teenager Simon.
Carla’s romance with Ali is soon to cause ructions with Ali’s mum – and Carla’s best mate Michelle.
While Toyah’s cooking up a complicated plan to adopt Eva’s baby girl – that Peter’s bound to find out about sooner or later.
So it strikes us the scene is being set for a Peter/Carla reunion.
And Alison agrees.
“I think the Peter/Carla/Toyah angle is very interesting,” she told Metro.co.uk. “There’s definitely unfinished business there and their chemistry is undeniable.”
