There is confusion on Coronation Street next week when Aidan Connor treats two unsuspecting cobbles residents to some very expensive gifts. But what is behind his new-found generosity?
When Summer Spellman asks Aidan for a job cleaning the factory to earn her some extra cash, Aidan is torn.
Summer has impressed everyone during her work experience at the factory, but Aidan knows he can’t give her a permanent job and tries to let her down gently.
Instead of a cleaning job, Aidan goes one better and tells Summer that Maria will take her shopping to get an outfit for a party that she is going to – and they’re taking his credit card.
Now that has got to be better that scrubbing the factory loos, surely!
Next on Aidan’s list of people to treat is little Liam Connor.
While watching over Liam for Maria, Aidan notices that the young lad has taken a shine to his watch.
With his new-found generosity getting the better of him once again, Aidan tells Liam that he can keep it.
When Maria later finds the watch in Liam’s pocket, she is worried that she might have a thief on her hands.
But Liam is quick to reassure his mum that Aidan gave it to him as a present and Maria is stunned.
Billy thanks Aidan for getting the outfit for Summer, but is there more to Aidan’s generosity than meets the eye?
Could he be trying to make up for past mistakes? Or is he just celebrating the success of getting Underworld back off the ground by treating people around him?
Speaking on Lorraine last week, Shayne Ward, who plays the troubled factory owner revealed: “You’ve got to look at everything that Aidan’s been through. He is a troubled soul and he’s always been trying to prove himself to his dad, his family, but things keep on going wrong for him.

“His relationship didn’t go the way he wanted to. He did cheat, he did come clean. He gave Carla one of his kidneys. So there is love with Aidan, but there’s obviously something underlying.”
With Aidan’s exit from the cobbles imminent, could this latest behaviour be somehow linked to his departure?
Watch these scenes in Coronation Street on Friday 4th May at 7.30 and 8.30pm.
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
