Coronation Street boss teases future of Phelan plot

It can't get much worse, surely?

Soap boss Kate Oates has teased the UK’s press with some upcoming autumn storylines that are guaranteed to keep us all on our toes over the next few months.

She revealed at a special Coronation Street press conference, the characters and plot twists that will leave us all open mouthed, as well as revealing there’s plenty of drama ahead.

It definitely seems like Corrie will be getting really dark (nothing to do with the early evening sunsets or them not paying their electricity bills!) with two storylines in particular.

If you’ve been left wondering whether Andy Carver will be discovered then you’re not about to find out anytime soon.

The producer revealed: “We will play that out over autumn, and will see how Pat Phelan deals with that problem.”

She then teased: “Will Andy see the light of day or not?” which implies, probably not for quite some time.

It was only in August that we discovered that Andy was still alive and had been kept chained up in the basement cellar of a disused house, where his living conditions have been less than, shall we say, luxurious!

But with Phelan’s wife Eileen Grimshaw and his long lost daughter Nicola taking more than a keen interest in his life recently, could things be about to take a sinister twist?

Kate also teased that Billy the vicar will be involved in a much darker storyline, only revealing that “it will have a big impact on another main family on the street and that will run into Christmas.”

Ooooh we can’t wait!

And what with ITV announcing it’s bringing double episodes of the soap to ITV on Wednesdays, with the first extra episode showing on Wednesday September 20th at 8.30pm, there’s going to be some rip-roaring storylines.

In the first week alone Corrie fans with see the double wedding of Aidan, Eva, Jenny and Johnny and not everything will get off to the happily married start in life that everybody wants!

It’s definitely going to be one of the most sensational weddings Soapland has ever seen.
