Catherine Tyldesley reveals her husband is being teased over Strictly ‘curse’

She says he is used to seeing her snogging other actors in Corrie

Catherine Tyldesley’s husband is being teased about the Strictly ‘curse’, according to a report.

Former Corrie star Catherine – married to personal trainer Tom Pitfield for three years – revealed that his friends started joking she will leave him for a pro dancer after she signed up for the new series of Strictly Come Dancing.

Catherine told The Sun: “He’s got a WhatsApp group with his mates, a lot of them rugby players, and there is a lot of banter.

“They’re all like, ‘Oh mate, you’re screwed, she’s gonna run off.’ But I’m just like ‘Whatevs,’ because it’s not something I’m worried about. We are happily married. Tom has actually just been super supportive and really excited for me.”

Catherine – who shares son Alfie, four, with Tom – insisted her husband doesn’t care she will be partnered with a hunky dancer as he is used to her kissing other men on screen in Coronation Street.

She said: “Tom has been on set when I have been snogging the face off actors. And I am used to faking my emotions, so to me it’s not a thing.”

Judge Craig Revel Horwood previously dismissed claims the series is to blame for any failed relationships, insisting the ‘curse’ never strikes anyone in a “strong, loving relationship”.

He explained: “You’re dancing up close and personal and spending all of your time with that one person. Of course people fall in love.

“But my point is, if your relationship in real life is suffering anyway, it’s going to happen anyway whether it happens on Strictly … or in real life.

“If you have a strong loving relationship in the first place, that stuff just doesn’t happen.”

Catherine also revealed that she was expecting to be partnered with either Aljaz Skorjanec, or Johannes Radebe, because she is 5ft 6.

She also admitted to being full of nerves – and said she had warned people off wagering on her to win because she “genuinely cannot dance”.

– The 2019 series of Strictly Come Dancing launches tonight at 7.10pm
