Wow, what a first week on I’m A Celebrity! Jack Maynard’s departure, reports of Amir Khan’s massive appearance fee and Rebekah Vardy’s ex-husband reportedly saying that he wants her to “go through hell” on the show have all been major talking points.
And yet! Viewers of the ITV reality show still managed to turn their attention to something else when former Countdown star Carol Vorderman made a guest appearance on spin-off show Extra Camp last night.
The 56-year-old looked all ready for the Australian weather as she rocked up in a low-cut jumpsuit with summery blonde locks.
But some observers were clearly distracted, fearing that something was amiss with the brainy presenter’s face.
Carol was a contestant on last year’s I’m A Celebrity, finishing fifth behind eventual winner Scarlett Moffatt.
And when she announced on Twitter earlier this week that she was heading to Australia, some fans speculated that she might be returning to the jungle for a second stint.
The Welsh star wrote: “Just landed in Brizzie [Brisbane]. @imacelebrity #NotAsTerrifiedAsLastYear Thank you @Quantas for a great flight… Pass the roo testies… I’m starving… lol.”
But it transpired that she was jetting over to Oz to talk about this year’s series on Extra Camp, and no sooner had she stepped into the makeshift studio than viewers were expressing concern about Carol’s face.

One fan tweeted: “Hardly recognised Carol Vorderman on #IACGMOOH Extra Camp.”
Another scoffed: “Catching up on #ImACelebextracamp. Oh dear @carolvorders – too much effort to your face. Any more [and] you won’t be able to open your eyes!!”
And a third added: “Carol, you have spoilt your sweet face. Stop x.”
This isn’t the first time the former Countdown star has received criticism over her looks. Following an appearance on The One Show in September, she was mocked by online trolls, who were under the impression that she’d had too much work done on her face.

Responding to the claims, she said: “Am in San Diego. Just seen this. Sad. Filmed early July, just 2-3 wks after Mum’s funeral, when still grieving badly.”
Carol can take heart from the fact that plenty of viewers thought she looked amazing on last night’s programme.
One fan was clearly taken by her summery get-up, gushing: “Looking hot tonight!”
And another took inspiration from the twice-married star, saying: “Carol Vorderman looks incredible… I hope I age as well.”
“Carol Vorderman looks amazing,” added a third.
The phrase “you can’t please everyone” comes to mind…
