Brendan Cole linked to Dancing On Ice judging role after Strictly Come Dancing axe

It's claimed that a "discussion" has been held to land Kiwi star

| Updated:

Brendan Cole looked truly down in the dumps this week when he revealed on Lorraine that his Strictly Come Dancing contract wasn’t being renewed.

But as the old saying goes, just as one door closes, another one opens.

And according to a report from The Sun, the 41-year-old could be back on our TV screens before we know it.

In the article, it’s claimed that ITV bosses have held a “discussion” to sign Brendan up for a judging role on Strictly rival Dancing On Ice!

The report suggests that, although Brendan has not yet been approached, ITV chiefs are excited about the banter he would have with existing judge Jason Gardiner.

“They think he’d be the perfect fit over at ITV. He’s such a huge personality and talent who really knows his stuff,” said the insider.

“His opinions may have annoyed people over at the BBC, but that kind of feistiness is exactly what ITV want.”

Sadly, however, a rep for Dancing On Ice told ED! today: “No decisions have been made regarding Dancing On Ice 2019 and any reports are pure speculation.”

That hasn’t stopped fans speculating however, with one tweeting: “I do think Brendan Cole will be very good as a judge on Dancing On Ice.”

Another said: “And the Brendan Cole roadshow rolls on… Will he be leaving Strictly to join Dancing On Ice as a judge? Who knows, but he deserves some good news…”

Appearing on Lorraine yesterday, Brendan revealed his disappointment at being booted off the BBC dancing show.

He told Lorraine Kelly: “I’m a little bit in shock. I’m quite emotional, a bit raw about it.”

And shortly after the segment, the hashtag #BringBackBrendan appeared on Twitter in support of the star.

One of his fans fumed: “Not a good decision BBC…. it will not be the same… ridiculous…”

Another raged: “What @bbcstrictly??? No more @BrendanCole?? We all loved his rebel ways and his passion and protectiveness of the celebs… Bad mistake on your part!! You can’t get rid of everyone who has an opinion… the show would be boring without it!!”

Others, however, weren’t as sad to see him go, with one tweeting: “I’m not actually that bothered about the Brendan Cole thing.”

Another said: “So so happy Brendan Cole won’t ever be on Strictly again.”
