Axed Strictly Come Dancing star Brendan Cole has major dig at Big Brother

You won't be seeing him on this!

| Updated:

He was stunned and disappointed to be axed from Strictly Come Dancing after 13 years waltzing and jiving on the BBC show.

Now Brendan Cole says he’s found the perfect way to fill his time when the new series starts in the autumn – he wants to go into the jungle.

The 41-year-old father-of-two said he’d love to appear on rival channel ITV’s hit reality show I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here!

Asked about becoming a campmate, he told the Daily Star: “I would never say never to anything – except Big Brother.

“Doors come along and you open them and you choose to walk a different path.”

Brendan has said he hasn’t had time off work between July to Christmas for the past 13 years because of working on Strictly so he said he would now love to be able to “take on any other responsibilities”.

He also believes going into the Australian  jungle – where he would be cut off from the outside world – would be good for him as he faces watching Strictly for the first time without being part of it.

He said he will “really miss” his colleagues and will find it “a very strange thing” and “disappointing” to watch the show instead of being on it.

The BBC announced last month that they would not be renewing Brendan’s contract for the 16th series.

Many fans were outraged by the decision, as Brendan has been on the show since the very beginning and was the first professional to lift the glitterball trophy with newsreader Natasha Kaplinsky.

But it was rumoured that producers were unhappy with his fiery outbursts and clashes with the judges, and so gave him his marching orders to prove “no one is bigger than the show.”

If Brendan does go into the jungle, he won’t be the first Strictly dancer to take on the challenge.

Ola Jordan was a campmate in 2016, Vincent Simone appeared in 2013 and Camilla Dallerup had a brief stint in 2009 before quitting after a few days over health concerns.
