Amused GMB viewers distracted by MP’s “worst wig ever”

They couldn't take him seriously

| Updated:

MP Michael Fabricant appeared on Good Morning Britain today to deny an allegation he has behaved inappropriately with a journalist – but viewers were more interested in how he looked, than what he had to say.

As the Lichfield MP strongly denied any wrongdoing as he spoke to Ben Shephard and Kate Garraway, viewers took to Twitter to say they were distracted by his striking blonde hair.

Many believe the Conservative must have been wearing a wig, and a not very flattering one at that.

“No idea what he is saying, every drop of attention is in that hair,” one wrote, while another said, “somebody say something. Worst wig ever.”

While viewers were mocking his look on social media, Michael was in the studio to speak about a serious matter.

He has become embroiled in the Westminster sex scandal, dubbed Pestminster, after being named and shamed in a spreadsheet of alleged sleazy behaviour.

The majority of the 36 names of MPs on the list have not been revealed to the public but Michael chose to admit he was one of them as he said he has nothing to hide.

He said there is no substance to the allegation he “was inappropriate with a male journalist in a taxi.”

The MP said he has no idea where the story has from as he has no recollection of the alleged incident.

He said: “It’s bizarre, I don’t know where this has come from. I have asked all the press at Westminster, they are the biggest gossips but none of them have heard anything about this before.

“If the person involved was a journalist, why haven’t they written a story about it?”

Michael also spoke about his appearance on tonight’s Celebrity First Dates.

The special edition of the show for Stand Up To Cancer also features Sinitta and The X Factor’s Matt Terry.

Michael refused to reveal if he hit it off with his date.

“You’ll have to watch it to find out!” he teased.
