The One Show’s Alex Jones praised for ‘positive’ photo of baby son

New year family photo gets them all gooey...

While some people were celebrating New Year’s Eve with fireworks and hearty renditions of Auld Lang Syne, Alex Jones welcomed the arrival of 2018 in a somewhat more reflective manner.

The One Show presenter, 40, decided to share a lovely throwback picture of her breastfeeding son Teddy – who’s now a year old – alongside her husband, insurance broker Charlie Thomson.

And her fans on social media LOVED the snap, with many heaping praise on the Welsh star for presenting such a “positive” image.

Alex gave birth to Teddy – her first child – last January, and she’s clearly been loving motherhood. She’s posted a number of cute pics of the little fellow to her Instagram page.

And as she said goodbye to the outgoing year, she confirmed that her son had made it a very special 12 months for her and Charlie.

Alongside the black and white photo – which looks like it was taken shortly after she had Teddy – she gushed: “2017, you were the best yet. Happy new year to all our friends. Blwyddyn newydd dda bawb [Happy new year to you all]. Here’s to a happy and healthy 2018 xxx.”

And fans of the star were soon taking time out from their own celebrations to wax lyrical about the snap.

One wrote: “What a beautiful photo of you and your boys. Happy new year to you all xx.”

Another added: “Lovely photo. It’s sad that we live in a society where we even need to applaud posts like this and that it isn’t just the norm. Bravo for posting such a natural and beautiful thing. I always appreciate it when public figures help in re-normalising the most natural thing in the world. All the best.”

And a third said: “Thank you for sharing such a beautiful, positive breastfeeding photo. Your photo will help a lot of mammas to be confident to breastfeed. Well done you xxx.”

After giving birth to Teddy, Alex took three months’ maternity leave from The One Show, returning to the BBC programme last April.

However, she later admitted that she may have returned to work too soon.

She told The Sun: “With hindsight, it would’ve been better to take longer off, but of course you don’t know that before you go.

“You make all these plans and when you’re still at work, you say: ‘Yeah, it’ll be fine, I’ll be fine to come back after three months.

“I felt fine in myself, but I didn’t feel ready to be separated from Teddy.”
