Paddy McGuinness breaks down on The One Show after receiving touching gift from girl with Cerebral Palsy

The presenter struggled to hold back his emotions

Take Me Out host Paddy McGuinness broke down in tears during Tuesday’s The One Show after receiving a touching gift from a girl, Tijili, who has Cerebral Palsy and is deaf.

The presenter appeared on the chat show to talk to hosts Alex Jones and Matt Baker about his brand new one-off special Even Better Than The Real Thing.

But another segment saw Paddy, 44, struggle to hold back his emotions after being presented with a painting that Tijili had created for him.

During the chat Paddy and presenters Alex and Matt watched a video of 16-year-old Tijili showing off her amazing talents.

Tijili was adopted from Cambodia and was abandoned on the streets when she was a baby.

Her adoptive parents also appeared in the clip to talk about life with Tijili.

Following the video Alex and Matt explained that Tijili and her family were watching the show from their home and Tijili had painted a picture especially for the presenter.

Matt surprised dad-of-three Paddy with the signed painting, which was a portrait of him.

As comedian Paddy was presented with the gift he struggled to hold back tears and broke down.

Wiping away tears Paddy said: “What an amazing little girl.

“Get me a tissue!”

He then thanked Tijili for the painting.

Viewers watching from home were also emotional watching Paddy receive the gift.

One tweeted: “Oh my god- Paddy McGuinness crying on the #TheOneShow breaks my heart. Bless him. That picture the girl painted for him.”

“Paddy on #TheOneShow awww. Tjili is an amazing girl,” another said.

A third wrote: “Aw love Paddy McGuinness on #TheOneShow.”

Meanwhile in the presenter’s personal life he and wife Christine recently spoke out about their four-year-old twins’ autism.

The comedian said that it can be very difficult to get any physical contact from Penelope.

Christine, 29, also explained that she was initially “angry” to learn about the children’s condition, but then adapted to their needs.

The proud parents, who got married in 2011, also have a daughter called Felicity together, one.

Talking about when they first found out, Paddy told The Sun: “We’d been to see a paediatrician and at the end she said quite casually, ‘I’m absolutely certain both the children have autism’.”

Paddy said that they struggle with Penelope more than Leo.

He said: “I know if I am driving them to nursery and a particular parking space isn’t available, Leo probably won’t get out of the car.

“Penelope is the complete opposite to Leo. She’s much more emotional. Her autism is more moderate than Leo’s but we struggle with her more.

“She doesn’t like physical contact like a cuddle. She’s full of anxiety and prefers to play alone a lot, but doesn’t necessarily want to be alone.”

Back in July Christine shared a poem to her twins on their birthday.

She wrote: “You are conquering your daily challenges, and I’m here to hold your hand, when [you’re] dealing with sensory overload, the quietest room sounds like a big brass band.

“I love you unconditionally, and I will encourage you both to embrace your autism. Because you are totally unique and fantastically awesome.

“All my love always, Mummy.”
