Upset Coronation Street viewers have accused the ITV soap of bad taste over its current love triangle involving Sinead, Daniel and Bethany.
In shocking scenes this week, Daniel Osbourne kissed Bethany Platt while his wife Sinead Tinker lay dying of cancer.
After a row with Sinead, Daniel found comfort in the arms of Bethany, who is clearly in love with him.
On Wednesday night (October 23), Sinead was devastated when she discovered the truth about the kiss.
The shocking blow comes just HOURS before she passes away on Friday night (October 25).
Those watching the storyline unfold from home have been left hurt and angry that Sinead’s tragic death has been “overshadowed” by Daniel cheating on her.
Writing on Digital Spy Forums, one said: “The Sinead/Daniel/Bethany Triangle. Where good taste vanishes without trace.”
On Twitter, an angry fan wrote: “This is a barbaric twist to the cancer storyline. Yes it happens in real life, but doesn’t need to be part of this story.”
I absolutely hate that corrie felt the need to have this Daniel and Bethany thing when Sinead is dying. It’s so wrong. Can we just have a storyline without betrayal??? #corrie

This is a barbaric twist to the Cancer storyline. Yes it happens in real life but doesn’t need to be part of this story 😡

Why have the cheating Daniel and Bethany storyline as Sinead is dying. #corrie

I get that he’s grieving and that he’s not thinking straight, but this is out of character and as far as I can tell, bad writing. This story has been handled so delicately up until now, and NOTHING is going to be able to redeem Daniel’s character now.

Am emotional about this storyline brilliant acting, cervical cancer needs to be highlighted but unfortunately again the writers has ruin it by Daniel kissing Bethany why add that story to it, it’s not needed 😡😡

Another added: “Am emotional about this storyline – brilliant acting – cervical cancer needs to be highlighted but, unfortunately again, the writers have ruined it by Daniel kissing Bethany. Why add that story to it, it’s not needed!?”
A third said: “Oh Corrie, not happy. You made it so tense and not letting Sinead go in peace but with memories of her husband’s betrayal.”
“Why add the Daniel and Bethany scenario? This is such a real story without that,” said one more, and another wrote: “Such a good storyline ruined by making him cheat on his dying wife. No need – pointless and stupid.”
The factory worker will tragically lose her battle with cancer on Friday night and Thursday’s episode (October 24) will see Sinead record video messages for their baby son Bertie.
Sinead, played by Katie McGlynn, was devastated when she discovered Bethany’s notebook in which she’d poured out her feelings for Daniel.
When Sinead confronted her husband, he denied it at first but then admitted he and Bethany had shared a kiss.
After the revelation, Daniel was seen downing alcohol and embarking on a mission to self-destruct – none of which was helping his son Bertie or his dying wife Sinead.
Tonight, viewers will see Tracy Barlow call at the flat and tell Sinead that Bertie is going to need his dad when she’s gone – reminding her that he loves them both with all his heart.
Tracy’s words strike home with Sinead and, when Daniel returns home, the pair have a heartwrenching conversation about his future without her and he promises to look after their son.
Realising Daniel is punishing himself over the kiss, she tells him she forgives him.
Every scene is important as Sinead lives her last hours out in Weatherfield.
On Friday, Sinead is too weak to travel to the hospice and says her goodbyes before passing away peacefully with her husband and son on the bed with her.
