Neighbours bosses reveal plans to bring Bishop family back from the dead

It never made it on air

Neighbours bosses scripted the Bishop family’s return from the dead.

In 2005, Neighbours favourites Lijana, David and Serena were killed off in a plane crash in dramatic scenes aired for the show’s 20th anniversary.

Story editor Shane Isheev has revealed the team got as far as penning a script for the shock comeback, but the plot “never made it” on air.

Responding to a fan on Twitter, he wrote: “Some years ago (well before my time), the story team scripted their return but it never made it to screen for various reasons.

“So who knows. Maybe they are out there somewhere still? Returning from the dead is a Bishop family trait.”

Given that David’s body was the only one to be found, meaning there is still the possibility Lijana and Serena are alive.

Shane also opened up about continuity errors in the Dee Bliss storyline, which will see a DNA test confirm she and Andrea Somers (both played by Madeleine West) are identical twins, while it will also be revealed Dee was adopted as a baby into the Bliss family.

Andrea faked a DNA test in 2017 to prove she was Dee, with the DNA compared to some belonging to Dee’s sister Cecile, but this test should have come back as negative if they aren’t related by blood.

And while it was previously established Cecile died in 2016, it has now been claimed her funeral happened in 2009.

Shane wrote: “Getting things right is extremely important to the team.

“A few of us have encyclopedic knowledge of #Neighbours’ history, which is great when revisiting past events, but unfortunately due to the speed we work, errors are occasionally made and no one is more disappointed than us! (sic)”
