After years of yo-yo dieting, EastEnders star Natalie Cassidy has revealed that she’s finally happy with the way she looks.
Speaking to Heart‘s Jenni Falconer, as part of her RunPod podcast series, Natalie revealed: “I have learnt how to eat and how to be comfortable with who I am.”
Saying “you get wiser as you get older”, Natalie added: “I just feel much more confident and comfortable.”
Natalie has recently lost three stone while training for this year’s London Marathon, which takes place on Sunday April 28.
She is running for the charity Dementia Revolution in honour of her former soap co-star Barbara Windsor, who suffers from Alzheimer’s.
Admitting to Jenni that her friend’s battle with the degenerative illness left her feeling “sad”, Natalie revealed: “When you think about what she’s done, an amazing woman with an amazing life, it just makes me so sad.”
She added of the actress’s illustrious career, which has spanned decades: “Will she not remember how iconic she was?”
Natalie, who is mum to daughters Eliza, eight, and Joanie, two, has been open about her attitude towards her body over the years, saying she “looked too thin” when she was at her lightest, a size four to six.
“I can say I wasn’t happy then,” she told Heat magazine.
At her biggest Natalie was a size 16, but – as Ent Daily recently reported – a friend revealed that training for the London Marathon had come at a great time in her life.
They told Now magazine: “She loves to run and says fitness has helped, not just with her body but also her mental health.”
The source added: “Nat is following a well-balanced, low-GI diet and has sworn off take-outs.”
The star, who recently ran a half marathon with Barbara’s husband Scott Mitchell, is running the 26.2 mile London Marathon course as part of the Barbara’s Revolutionaries team, which also includes her EastEnders co-stars Jake Wood, Emma Barton and Jamie Borthwick.
