Kirsty-Leigh Porter reveals “struggle” on what would have been her still-born daughter’s due date

Hollyoaks star Kirsty-Leigh Porter has spoken on her ongoing struggle after her daughter was stillborn last December.

Kirsty has shared an emotional Instagram message on what would have been the week of her child’s due date.

She revealed that this week has been particularly hard for her and her fiancé Paul.

Kirsty has been reading a book about how to deal with the grief of losing her child, Penny-Leigh. She shared an image of Saying Goodbye by Zoe Clark-Coates on Instagram.

The actress wrote alongside: “This week in particular has been a struggle.. tomorrow is Penny-Leigh Barber’s due date – 5th March 2019. A date I spent saying over and over again, looking forward to with the most excitement, planning my whole life around. I’ve really had to pick myself up, and I am searching for any help.”

She continued: “Thankfully I remembered this book I received from the bereavement suite at the hospital. Written by @zoeadelle Just turning a few pages and reading the words of someone who understands your experience helps. I recommend anyone who is going through this heartbreak to get hold of a copy. ❤️.”

Kirsty also shared a message about grief and admitted that she has often felt “alone” after her loss, despite the support of her family and friends.

The 30-year-old explained: “When I first heard them words “you’re not alone” I knew I wasn’t. But then when days and weeks past I understood what they meant more than ever. You can have the biggest circle of family & friends but you still feel alone. Thankful for my family & the fellow angel mums (you know who you are)❤️ Thank you for all of your beautiful messages, Angel dads, Angel mums & Angel families & friends. The support is unreal.”

In January, Kirsty announced the sad news that her daughter was stillborn on 21st December.

She shared a photo of her little one’s hand and footprints and said her heart has “never felt pain like it.”
