He was commended by judge

Home & Away actor Orpheus Pledger has been commended by a judge after intervening to help a woman who was being assaulted.

The actor had noticed a man following the woman, and decided to keep an eye on him. He stepped in on seeing the man grab the women and hurl her to the ground – ensuring the woman’s safety.

Orpheus served as a key witness in the trial of Justin Bird, who was found guilty of aggravated assault with intent to rob.

According to the Daily Mail, the judge overseeing the case commending Orpheus for his actions at the time of the crime.

“It was very fortunate he was there and very fortunate he intervened,” the judge said, of the 25-year-old actor, commenting that he “deserved commendation.”

Orpheus spoke to the Australian Daily Telegraph about the incident – which took place in April last year, saying he acted on instinct.

“My gut told me something was up. I was pretty frightened but the adrenaline kicked in,” he said.

“He just made a run for her. He ran 10 or 15 minutes and grabbed her full around the body and threw her to the ground.”

He said that he makes a split-second decision to intervene.

“I didn’t think of the consequences in the moment,” he said. “I just needed to do what I could to help.”

Orpheus has been starring as Mason Morgan in Home & Away since 2016.
