Helene, who has starred in The Dark Knight, Hellboy and You, Me and the Apocalypse, will be appearing in Corrie for a brief stint in the coming months.

The actress confirmed the exciting news by retweeting a post sent by her agency The Narrow Road Co.

The tweet read: “Excited to see @helsmaksoud in upcoming episodes of @itvcorrie. She has had a busy few weeks filming for an episodic lead.”

As yet, no other details have been released about Helene’s involvement…

But it sounds like she has a big part to play, so who could she be?

According to the agency’s website, Helene will be playing a character named May – but no other details are known.

A show insider told the Daily Star that Helene has already started filming on set in Manchester, and will make her debut on screen later this month.

They said: “Helene has been a pleasure to have at the studios. She will play a part in one of our ongoing stories.”

New producer Iain MacLeod has also recruited former EastEnders actress Janet Dibley, Brit comic Stephen Bailey and Hollywood actor Adam Fogerty for guest roles.

In July, Helene shared her experiences of starring in legendary film The Dark Knight with her 940 Instagram followers.

Sharing a photo of the late Heath Ledger on set, she wrote: “10 years ago today?? Wow, time does fly.

“It was one of the worst auditions I’d ever done. I couldn’t remember one of my lines, so I kept swearing in frustration between takes.

“Little did I know they just kept rolling… so I basically effed and jeffed my way into that film. We had no idea how iconic it would become, how could we? So proud to have been a part of it. #thedarkknight.”

Heath died of an overdose just months after filming finished on The Dark Knight, where he played the Joker.

We bet Helene has got some good stories…
