Hollyoaks planning dramatic Christmas baby plot

It'll be a festive miracle for one character

It’s only 10 weeks away, and now Hollyoaks boss Bryan Kirkwood has shared some gossip about the soap’s plans for Christmas.

With lots of treats lined up to take us through the season, the Chester-set soap will screen for two 60-minute slots giving them even more opportunity to bring us all the big storylines.

In a chat with Digital Spy, Bryan has now revealed that Christmas will be all about the Cunninghams and Milo, but that we’re also in for a new arrival as Courtney Campbell gives birth.

“It wouldn’t be Christmas in soap without the arrival of a baby!” he explained. “Courtney gives birth to her much-longed-for daughter.

“It’s a real punch-the-air moment to see that brilliant battler get what she’s always wanted.”

The wheelchair user has been struggling with her pregnancy on screen recently and ended up in hospital a couple of weeks ago.

Despite being urged to take it easy by her friends and colleagues, Courtney is determined she can cope and is persevering.

She’s recently decided to set up home with the baby’s uncle, Jesse Donovan, but will her growing feelings for him put their purely platonic relationship in jeopardy?

Elsewhere, while Christmas with the Cunninghams might sound fun, the appearance of DS Armstrong might derail that.

Having previously stalked Cindy, he’s back on the prowl, but is it her he’s after?

“We do have a festive return ahead for DS Armstrong. He features rather heavily in our Christmas episode, which is a big, colourful camp treat.”

As well as Courtney’s baby, and Armstrong’s return, there’s set to be a “riotous” Christmas party in The Dog as Damon and Brody are left in charge.
