The moment teacher Maya Stepney was thrown behind bars for her relentless pursuit of schoolboy Jacob Gallagher, Emmerdale viewers expressed their relief that the storyline was over.
But the disturbing storyline is far from over, Louisa Clein has warned….
In what might come as a blow to viewers who grew to hate the storyline, the actress recently revealed that the plot could continue for years.
Speaking to Mirror.co.uk at the Inside Soap Awards, she said: “I think the storyline will almost certainly continue. There are repercussions, no doubt, for years for those characters.”
She also refused to rule out a return to the ITV soap.
Despite leaving the show months ago, Louisa also revealed the impact playing the twisted character had on her personal life and admits she is still heckled in the street.
She said: “Someone shouted out ‘I thought you were in prison!’ the other day. But I’m genuinely thinking it’s been only positive feedback.”
She continued: “I mean I’m a mum, so I think one’s always hyper aware around their children.
“I’ve also become much more involved with Barnardo’s, so I’m actually going to do some site visits with them. They’re an extraordinary charity and they invited me and gave us amazing advice.
“They do a lot of good. We can bring light to their brilliance and their hard work doing stories like this.”
Viewers know that the teacher was jailed for a year after being found guilty of having an inappropriate relationship with her student.
The teenager- who also happened to be her boyfriend’s son – was groomed over months behind his dad’s back.
In a sickening twist, Jacob is still in love with Maya and appears to be waiting for her to be released.
Some fans have predicted the teacher will be back for an explosive Christmas storyline, after her release…
