Danny played Aaron Dingle in the soap from 2008 to 2012.

He returned in 2014 and has been in the soap since.

Cutest thing that I saw today. OMG!

Earlier this week, the star paid tribute to his co-star Ryan Hawley – who played Aaron’s husband Robert Sugden – as Robert’s exit scenes aired.

He shared a photo of himself hugging Ryan on Twitter alongside a sweet caption.

Danny wrote: “What a pleasure the last 5 years has been. An incredible actor & a beautiful man.

“To share the laughs, the screen & an iconic soap partnership with you has been nothing other than an honour brother!

“Aaron lost his husband. I lose a good friend. Farewell for now, my man.”

Robert was sentenced to life in prison, serving a minimum of 14 years, for the murder of Lee Posner.

Lee had raped Robert’s sister Victoria earlier this year resulting in the chef getting pregnant.

When Lee admitted to Robert he raped Victoria and hinted he would go out and do it again, Robert hit Lee over the back of the head.

Lee died several weeks later, most likely as a result of the injuries Robert had caused to him.
