Emmerdale sees string of cast exits including Michael Praed and Gaynor Faye

Three are yet to depart

Over the last few months, a string of Emmerdale actors have either left the soap, or made the decision to depart the show.

Recently viewers have said goodbye to a number of characters.

Frank Clayton, who was played by Michael Praed, was killed off in the Sharma & Sharma factory fire. His exit was shortly followed by that of Gaynor Faye, who played Frank’s girlfriend Megan Macey.

Sandra Marvin recently left as her character Jessie Dingle went to start a new job in Dubai.

Her on-screen son, Ellis Chapman, played by Asan N’jie was quick to follow her abroad .

His abrupt departure was due to Asan being fired from the soap after threatening Hollyoaks star Jamie Lomas at the TV Choice Awards.

The two most recent exits were Sally Dexter, who played Faith Dingle and Ryan Hawley, who played Robert Sugden.

Ryan’s final scenes aired last week as Robert was moved to a prison on the Isle of Wight and cut all contact with his family.

So who is still left to exit the soap?

Andrew Scarborough – Graham Foster

Andrew is the most recent actor reported to have quit the ITV soap.

A source told the Daily Star Sunday: “Andrew’s been a great addition to the cast and has been involved in some of Emmerdale’s biggest storylines since he arrived in the village in 2017.

“So he was never going to leave in the back of a taxi.

“His exit will be huge and will kick-start a drama-filled and action-packed year in the Dales.”

Graham is currently on Kim Tate’s bad side after he announced his relationship with her nemesis Rhona Goskirk.

Will Kim have something to do with his exit?

Anthony Quinlan – Pete Barton

Last month it was reported Anthony Quinlan would be leaving his role as Pete Barton in the soap.

Sharon Marshall then confirmed on This Morning that Anthony would be departing after playing Pete for six years.

She said: “He is leaving, yes. There was a piece in the papers… It is true. He has said he wants to go off and do some other projects.”

She continued: “I can’t even tell you how he’s going I’m afraid, because we haven’t actually written it yet.

“We will miss him, he’s a lovely actor… But yes he is going. We’ve got him on screen for a while yet.”

Anthony has already landed a new role since leaving the soap, however, we don’t know what circumstances will lead up to Pete’s exit.

Samantha Giles – Bernice Blackstock

Back in September, Samantha announced the news on Twitter that she would be leaving the dales.

It was recently reported that Bernice’s daughter Dee Dee, who lives in Australia, would be making a return and it looks like she could play into her exit.

In spoilers for next week’s Emmerdale, Bernice is upset when she can’t get a hold of Dee Dee but her soon-to-be husband, Dr Liam Cavanagh has a surprise for her.

Is this the start of Bernice’s exit storyline?

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
