Lisa originally played Mandy from 1995-2001

Lisa Riley is returning to Emmerdale again, after a triumphant but brief comeback earlier this year.

She wrote on Instagram: “YES YES YES!!! I am seriously overjoyed to FINALLY confirm to you all, I will be returning to @itv @emmerdale it’s 100% THE TRUTH!!! Back on your screens mid-September, Mandy’s back with her son Vinny, she is going to make you laugh, and I’m very sure the writers will be adding some “Mandy Mischief” along the way for good measure. Lisa – who initially starred in the ITV soap from 1995 to 2001 – returned to the show for a brief stint this January, bringing with her teen son, Vinny.

Her ex Paddy suspected Vinny was his son, because they share so many character traits, but Mandy denied it.

Lisa says she is most excited to reunite with her co-stars, and has assured viewers they will not be “let down” by Mandy’s return.

She said: “The first initial offer was for a long period, but because of work and my commitments, there was an original storyline which has been flipped.

“It won’t be what people expect, which is even better. It leaves things very much open for the new year, shall we say.

“I had a secret meeting with the show and I had time to have a think about whether it was the right thing, but it didn’t take me a long time once they told me the story.”
