Emmerdale’s Isobel Steele reveals Liv and Jacob are headed for HUGE story

Soap fave hints tough times are ahead for Jacob

| Updated:

Actress Isobel Steele has hinted Liv could become Jacob’s rock during the continued fallout from his grooming ordeal.

The soap star, 18, told Metro her character has been stuck in the middle of the exploited 16-year-old and his abuser Maya after discovering their clandestine affair which has sickened many viewers of the ITV show.

But she also reckons confused Jacob will come to rely on his level-headed pal more and more as he suffers with the trauma of being seduced by his father’s partner, a paedophile teacher.

“It was quite hard for Liv because she didn’t realise how big [the affair] was at time,” she said during a recent chat on the British Soap Awards red carpet.

However, while Liv struggled to come to terms with the illicit romance between her friend and Maya herself, she soon managed to prioritise her attempts to support Robert and Aaron’s efforts to fund their plans for surrogacy by blackmailing Jacob’s abuser.

Nonetheless, Isobel seemed to suggest Liv could soon feel even more responsibility Jacob’s wellbeing.

She told the website: “I think [Liv’s] the only person who can help Jacob come out of the state he’s in.

“Whatever happens , the character would be dealing with that for quite a while afterwards.

“And I think that Liv is the only one that can help him because she talks to him like a person, not a parent.”

Noting how close Liv and Jacob are, Isobel added: “They have a really special relationship afterwards.”

But could that mean Liv and Jacob become entangled romantically at some point in the future?

Actress Louisa Clein, who Isobel described as “a breath of fresh air” on the soap, recently hinted Maya’s storyline may have some twists to come.

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
