Emmerdale SPOILER: Police come for Cain after Joe Tate ‘murder’ secret is spilled

Who's in the frame for shopping him to the cops?

Emmerdale’s deadliest secret is about to be revealed – and it could lead to a long spell behind bars for Cain Dingle.

The village’s hard man has been unravelling ever since he thought he ended Joe Tate’s life with a killer blow.

Cain’s confusion and distress is so strong he even makes a pass at Charity as the Dingles try to rally round the surly repair man.

But even though Cain was not ultimately responsible for Joe’s supposed demise, it looks as if the law could finally catch up with him anyway after Matty Barton learns of his dark deeds.

A misunderstanding over Cain’s attack on partner – and Matty’s mum – Moira leads Faith Dingle to accidentally reveal all to the young mechanic.

She, in turn, only finds out the truth – or what he believes to be the truth – after Cain breaks down and confesses all to his daughter Debbie, Joe’s fiancée.

A distraught Debbie then confides in her grandmother who tells Matty everything she knows as she searches for an absent Cain at the farm.

And once word gets out Cain may have had a hand in Joe’s death, it isn’t too long before the police come calling for the Emmerdale anti-hero at The Woolpack.

Despite his disgust at Cain’s actions, Matty promises Faith he will be discreet and keep the confession under wraps.

But is it Matty who calls the cops on his mum’s man? Or is someone else responsible for grassing up Cain?

Despite tortured Cain being absolutely convinced of his own guilt, it is yet to be clear whether Joe is even dead.

While viewers know it was actually Graham Foster who finished off Joe and dumped his body by a viaduct, Cain has no idea that Joe – whose fingers were seen twitching before his body was shifted – survived his punch… and may still be alive.

Do you think Joe Tate could turn up in Emmerdale alive and well one day?
