Emmerdale SPOILER: Nicola ‘speaks for fans’ as she delivers some home truths to Jessie

Jessie was Hotten Academy's head teacher

Nicola speaks for Emmerdale fans as she delivers some home truths to Jessie in tonight’s episode (August 12 2019).

Last week Jessie was left gutted when she was suspended from her job as headteacher of Hotten Academy over the Maya and Jacob abuse scandal.

For months, viewers saw schoolteacher Maya Stepney groom her pupil, and boyfriend’s son, Jacob Gallagher.

The abuse happened right under Jessie’s nose and as the education disciplinary panel pointed out – she wilfully missed opportunities to put an end to the schoolboy’s ordeal.

Fans also complained that Jessie never appeared to go to her job.

In tonight’s episode, Jessie approaches Nicola, Bernice and Liam and asks if they want to join her for a drink but things soon take a sour turn.

A drunk Jessie asks everyone if, as her friends, they would make positive statements to the board, but Nicola is quick to speak her mind.

She says to Jessie: “Seriously? If your job was that important to you, maybe you should’ve done it better.”

Jessie then says: “Sorry?” clearly confused by her friend’s outburst.

Nicola continues: “Well you could’ve started by turning up.

“You were never in school, always here chasing him [Marlon] or stopping these two [Billy and Ellis] murdering each other.”

When Marlon wades in and sarcastically thanks Nicola for her opinion, Nicola continues: “I have a responsibility to my constituents with kids in the school to tell the truth, no matter how difficult that truth may be.”

Nicola reveals she spoke to the parents who were asked to give their opinion about Jessie.

She then says: “It wasn’t an easy thing to do but it happened on your watch Jessie, there’s only one person to blame and it’s you.”

Ouch!

Emmerdale is on Monday to Friday at 7pm with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursday on ITV.
