Jacob Gallagher’s forbidden feelings for Maya Stepney are set to come to a head next week, but will the teenager act on his attraction?
Jacob has had designs on his adoptive dad’s girlfriend weeks. But it isn’t just David that is stopping Jacob acting on his feelings… there’s also the small fact he is only 15 and Maya also just happens to be his teacher.
Jealous Jacob spots a chance to stir trouble for David and Maya next week when the school teacher’s birthday arrives.

Instead of showering his girlfriend with gifts, David leaves Maya seriously disappointed when he hands her a bunch of wilting flowers for her special day.
Having clearly made no effort in his present buying, you’d think that David would be desperately trying to make up for his mistakes.
But instead of thinking up some sort of romantic gesture to woo his other half, he spends her birthday drinking wine with his estranged wife, Tracy.
When David is late back for Maya’s birthday meal, Jacob seizes the moment and makes David look bad by revealing exactly where he is.
Maya is fuming to find her boyfriend with his ex, and Jacob also has a go at David on Maya’s behalf.
With resentment and jealousy clearly growing, Jacob finds yet another way to make himself look like the good guy.
Just to highlight how rubbish David’s flowers were, Jacob goes all out and gets Maya a really thoughtful gift.
But is he trying to make up for David’s failings, or just trying to get himself in his teacher’s good books?
Later Maya pours Jacob a glass of champagne to show how grateful she is for his present, but will the schoolboy misread the signals and do something he will regret?
And what about Maya? It doesn’t take a genius to work out the teenager has got a crush on her. Is she using this to her advantage?
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
