Emmerdale fans hail newcomer Jamie Tate as he fills the void left by Joe

He's nothing like his mother

Emmerdale viewers saw the arrival of Kim Tate’s son Jamie Tate in last night’s episode (April 30).

Jamie’s arrival was never going to be a quiet one!

As he was driving into the village, Megan Macey drove her car into the back of his as she was texting and driving. This led to Jamie accidentally knocking over Eric Pollard who hit his head.

Poor Jamie was given a hard time by the villagers who blamed him for the accident and whilst some viewers were confused as to how Jamie was to blame, others were distracted by how attractive and kind the young man is.

Viewers were left devastated when eye candy Ned Porteous, who plays Joe Tate, left the soap at the end of last year when his character was “killed off”.

Although it has been revealed his character is alive and being kept out of Kim Tate’s clutches, it doesn’t look like he’ll be making a return anytime soon.

As Jamie believed he had caused the accident he was extremely apologetic and felt terrible for what had happened.

Kim came outside and saw the commotion, before seeing her son in the back of an ambulance struggling to breathe from a panic attack.

Jamie made it clear they were not on good terms and that he didn’t want to see her.

Kim and Rhona went to the hospital to check on him. Kim stole his car key so Jamie would have to come find her.

He turned up at Home Farm and the mother and son began talking about his childhood.

When Kim talked about prison and said she “would’ve liked a visit” Jamie replied with:”Yeah and I would’ve liked a mum who didn’t rip people off”, making it obvious he is nothing like his villainous mother.

The student vet continued to tell Kim a few home truths telling her she was a “bag guy” and hurt everyone he cared about.

Kim promised to stop manipulating people if that meant Jamie would stay.

She gave him his car keys back to show “willing” but when he saw Graham, he told his mother to stay out of his life and left.

Emmerdale airs Monday to Friday at 7pm with an extra episode on Thursday at 8pm
