Jessie Dingle lay fighting for her life after being shot last night, and Emmerdale viewers will have to wait and see if the head teacher survives.
On Tuesday night (June 25), gangster Max held Billy Fletcher’s family hostage in a revenge plot that left both him and Jessie seriously injured.

The vile villain, who has been terrorising former prison pal Billy for weeks, broke into Billy’s home and threatened Marlon, April and Jessie with a loaded gun.
Viewers knew that Max was seeking retribution after Billy had tried to set Max up with the police after ‘agreeing’ to take part in a van robbery.
As a tense hostage situation unfolded, fans found themselves distracted by a number of inconsistencies – firstly the fact that, while Marlon had returned home early after injuring himself at a football match, Jessie was also at home. Again.

In fact, it’s not the first time head teacher Jessie was been accused of skiving school by viewers, who have previously questioned why she never seems to be working.
She even ‘disappeared’ during a crucial moment in Maya’s court case, with viewers wondering why Maya’s boss wasn’t present as the teacher was arrested and charged for grooming teenager Jacob Gallagher.
And, fans were quick to point out that, once again, Jessie was at home instead of at work. Had she been at work, she wouldn’t have been shot.
One viewer wrote: “Why was Jessie even home? I thought she was a headmistress in a school? #Emmerdale.”
Another said: “Was Jessie on a teacher training day or something? #Emmerdale.”
A third agreed, typing: “Jessie will be in hospital for two days then be out and about next week. Not at school though. That would be silly.”
“If Jessie dies, will the kids at her school even notice seeing as she’s never there?” asked one more.

Other fans has problems with Max being an “unconvincing gangster” and blasted the fact the gun was left on the floor after a struggle.
As Billy and Max came to blows in the living room, Billy managed to get Max to drop the gun, with the weapon skidding across the floor.
However, no one attempted to pick up the gun and take it out of reach of Max, who was later able to grab it again and point it at Jessie and shoot her in the stomach.

A third cried: “Why didn’t Billy throw the gun out, when Max was on the floor?”
“Why would you not move the gun, you absolute muppet?” said one more baffled fan.
Meanwhile, some viewers showed little concern for Jessie’s life, saying they didn’t care if she lived or died.
