Emmerdale fans heartbroken for April as Jessie exits

Another mum bites the dust

Jessie Dingle departed Emmerdale last night leaving fans heartbroken – however, it wasn’t because they were sad to see her go, but because they were upset for April.

Marlon’s daughter lost her real mum, Donna Windsor, when she died in the line of duty, although she was suffering from terminal cancer at the time.

At the time of Donna’s death, Marlon was married to Laurel Thomas, who became a mother figure to April, but Laurel’s alcoholism drove them apart, causing April to lose her too.

Marlon then got together with Carly Hope, who April adored.

But Carly departed the village when she fell for her old flame, Matt.

When Jessie came along and planned a surprise wedding for Marlon last Christmas, April even spoke to her stepmum-to-be and told her not to break her dad’s heart.

But that’s exactly what Jessie did when she slept with her ex, Al Chapman.

Marlon couldn’t get over the betrayal and ended his marriage and Jessie decided to take a job in Dubai and leave the whole sorry mess behind her.

She made a last ditch plea to Marlon to leave with her, but he insisted they were done and they made the hard move of telling April the truth.

The young lass seemingly took it well, as Jessie revealed she was leaving for Dubai.

“That’ll be hot,” April replied.

When Jessie informed her she was going that day, April said: “Okay. Same old, same old.

“Me and Dad have done this a few times now, we stay and they go.”

It got even more heartbreaking when April questioned why, and said: “It must be me.”

It was Billy who stepped in to put her straight: “Sometimes adults don’t mean to be but they’re selfish and stupid, and kids get hurt.”

Sobbing April said: “But this keeps happening…”

“I promise you, it’s not becuase of you,” said Billy.

As Jessie asked her to say goodbye, April ran off and said: “Why should I?”

Fans were just heartbroken that April has been hurt yet again.

Many thought she was the standout performer of the episode, heaping praise on young Amelia Flanagan, who plays her.
