Fans of Emmerdale were incredulous last night as Maya Stepney appeared to abandon Jacob Gallagher in their hotel hide out.
On Wednesday night (May 15), teacher Maya was accused of “doing a runner” on her schoolboy lover – despite months of grooming him.

Manipulative Maya mysteriously vanished during the episode, leaving Jacob fearing his abuser had abandoned him instead of running away with him.
While viewers were shocked, many hoped she had disappeared for good – with others wishing her a sticky end!
Viewers know that the pair have been hiding out in a hotel since their relationship was exposed.

However, things went frosty when Maya discovered the teenager had secretly contacted dad David Metcalfe and agreed to meet him.
After cajoling Jacob into smashing up his phone and swearing never to see his family again, some viewers sensed that Maya’s hold on him was beginning to loosen.
When Jacob nipped out of his hotel room to get supplies, he got a shock when he returned – Maya was nowhere to be seen.
Naturally, Jacob panicked at her sudden disappearance. Has she left him for good?
Fans thought the worst of the teacher, with one saying: “It didn’t last long, did it Jacob? Maya has done a runner!”
Another said: “I’m glad she’s gone. Now he can go home, phone the police and finally get Maya sent to prison.”
A third added: “She’s done a runner, but needs to be caught and locked up…”

Others had more sinister thoughts, with one writing: “Hopefully Maya has jumped out of the window. Into oncoming traffic #Emmerdale.”
Spoilers tell us that Maya is arrested next week, however actor Matthew Wolfenden has revealed that Maya’s spell is not yet broken and Jacob swears to stand by her.
We know that popular policemen DS Wise will be returning, but is he the one to bring Maya down?
