Emmerdale actress Louisa Clein reveals Maya plot isn’t over

She even suggested her exit hasn't been confirmed

Actress Louisa Clein, who plays Emmerdale‘s Maya Stepney has revealed there are still twists and turns to go in the plotline and hinted that her exit hasn’t been made official.

Speaking on the red carpet at Saturday night’s British Soap Awards (June 1), Louisa told The Sun there will be a court case before admitting she could “come back” to the show.

“She’s been arrested and she’s out, but there will be a court case,” she revealed.

“The court case might have already been filmed.”

When the publication asked her if she was leaving the soap for good, she replied: “I can’t possibly comment on anything such as that.

“I could come back…”

And in another red carpet interview, this time with Express.co.uk, she stated: “It’s not confirmed I’m leaving.”

Does this mean Maya is sticking around for a while yet?

For months Maya has groomed Jacob Gallagher, but her manipulation and lies were exposed recently when Priya saw the pair kissing after an evening out at a nightclub as part of Emmerdale’s Big Night Out episodes.

But sadly the sexual abuse case against Maya has been thrown into jeopardy as Priya, Leyla and Tracy have lied to the police about what happened after they all left the nightclub on that fateful night.

Soap fans have watched in horror as Maya has maintained she is the victim in this whole scenario as the police question her following her arrest.

But because the women aren’t being honest about what happened that night, it also means Priya hasn’t been able to tell the authorities that she witnessed Maya and Jacob kissing outside the nightclub.

Next week sees Pollard come face-to-face with Jacob’s abuser as she returns to the village having got out of police custody.

Pollard is shocked when he sees Maya spying on teenage Jacob, clearly determined to catch him on his own so that she can talk to him, but instead of confronting her, Pollard heads home instead.

Marching home with a determined look on his face, Pollard resolves to call the police, but just as he is on the phone, Maya comes in and cancels his call.

But while Maya does her best to manipulate Eric as well, he’s clearly not a man to be messed with and he’s soon offering her a deal.

Pollard tells Maya that either she goes and tells Jacob that she doesn’t love him anymore and ends things between them, or he will call the police and tell them of her whereabouts.

Maya is torn, but what will she choose?

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
