Emmerdale’s Isabel Hodgins reveals Victoria won’t get justice in court

Of course, there are other ways to get justice in Soapland...

| Updated:

Fans were horrified when Victoria Barton was brutally raped in Emmerdale and now they’re set to be upset even further after it’s been claimed she won’t get justice following her ordeal.

Victoria was attacked after a night out by Lee, a man she met in a club, and has since discovered she is pregnant with his baby.

After going away with brother Robert Sugden to clear her head, Victoria returned last week and revealed she is keeping her baby – much to Robert’s anger.

So as Vic tries to make her brother see this is what she wants, and get him to support her no matter what, it seems like there is a tough road ahead.

And now Isabel Hodgins, who plays Victoria, has revealed that for now at least, justice isn’t looking likely.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk, she reflected on how low the conviction rate is in court and said: “For someone who’s been through what she’s been through, I would love justice to be served, in this instance I don’t think it is.”

So it sounds like Victoria won’t be facing her attacker in court – just yet. Although with a story like this there is bound to be more to come.

Admitting she just wants her alter ego to be happy, Isabel added: “Victoria just wants to get on with her life.

“She just should be left to get on with her life and live in peace.

“She’s wanted a baby for so long, she should be left alone to be the best mum she can be.

“But that’s simple, soap’s not simple…”

And it won’t get any simpler for Victoria this week as Robert and his husband Aaron Dingle are set to confront her attacker.

On Friday June 14, the pair head off to the car dealership where Lee works and plan to confront him about the rape.

When Lee approaches them and offers to take them on a test drive, what will they do?

Can they get a confession out of him?

And how will Victoria react when she finds out what they’ve done? Not exactly letting her live peacefully as she so desperately wants, is it boys?

Emmerdale is on Monday to Friday at 7pm with extra episodes on Tuesday and Thursday at 8pm on ITV.
