Eagle-eye Emmerdale viewers recognise Laurel’s ‘new man’

He looks familiar

Emmerdale viewers recognised Laurel’s new friend in last night’s episode (April 4).

Last night Laurel went to help Harriet with her singles night. Harriet told her she needed her, if only to “bring the average age down”.

Although not keen on the idea of being at the event, as she arrived she caught the eye of an older man named John Richmond.

John approached Laurel telling her he was only there because he had “nowhere better”.

She introduced herself telling John she was a widow. Although he said he had two left feet he offered to dance with her, which she accepted.

Viewers knew they recognised John, but couldn’t place him.

In the second episode, it looked as though John had got talking to another woman and Harriet said to Laurel “it looks like we may have helped two lonely people”.

Geoff was Michelle Fowler’s personal tutor at university. The pair embarked on a romance despite the nearly 30-year age gap.

However, when they prepared to move to Scotland Geoff realised Michelle didn’t love her and told her he didn’t want her to waste her life.
