Hints at Andy Sugden’s potential return to Emmerdale after name drops

There have been enough hints in the script...

Andy Sugden could be set for a shock return to Emmerdale, going by how many times his name has been dropped on the soap recently.

The musclebound farmer fled the village in 2016 after he was set up for the attempted murders of Lawrence and Chrissie White.

However, last night’s episodes saw him mentioned repeatedly as his brother Robert returned to his own scheming ways.

His sneaky sibling used his feud with Andy to convince Ellis to get rid of his brother Billy Fletcher from the village.

Robert claimed his own past misdeeds – including sleeping with Andy’s fiance the night before their wedding – were Andy’s, and told Ellis that he should be careful with Billy around Victoria.

He also wants Billy gone because Aaron is struggling to cope with his prison bully being in the village.

Robert’s scheme caused Billy to storm into Victoria’s cottage and demand Billy leaves, thinking he was trying to ruin his relationship like happened with Robert and Andy.

But the many mentions of Andy have viewers suspicious he is about to make a stunning return to the village.

“Oh my god is Andy coming back #Emmerdale,” asked one very excited viewer on Twitter.

A second said: “Robert and Victoria talking about Andy in tonight’s episode got me missing @kelvin_fletcher #bringbackandysugden #Emmerdale.”

Another added: “The mention of Andy #emmerdale.”

However actor Kelvin Fletcher has previously insisted he had no plans to return to the show… but could it be an elaborate double bluff?

He told Soaplife: “Andy wasn’t killed off, so technically I could return. But I genuinely haven’t given it much thought.

“The two years since I left have flown by and, in many respects, my leaving still feels very fresh. I must get asked a couple of times a day when I’m going back.

“While Emmerdale is in my DNA, it’s exciting doing different things.”
