Rodney Blackstock’s potential new child teased in Emmerdale

But will he survive to enjoy fatherhood again?

| Updated:

Nicola King and Bernice Blackstock could end up with another half-sibling if a teased new arrival fathered by Rodney Blackstock comes true in soapland.

Emmerdale’s Rodders, aged around 70 and played by Patrick Mower, is set to head to Thailand with girlfriend Misty Allbright so she can pursue her dream as a fire breather.

And earlier today the actress who plays Misty speculated that her character could return to the village with a bundle of joy in tow if she is written back into the ITV soap.

Speaking to Lorraine host Christine Lampard, Hedydd Dylan hinted Rodney’s big move could be called off after he collapses while preparing to go. While he even survive the week?

Furthermore, it seems Rodney’s daughters will do everything within their power to prevent him emigrating during his senior years.

Hedydd explained: “She wants Rodney to go with her but Bernice and Nicola have got other ideas so we’ll have to see what happens.”

“I know there’s some meddling with Misty’s tarot cards,” she added.

Hedydd also insisted the relationship between Misty and Rodney is the real thing.

“I think she’s a bit mad and doesn’t see age as an obstacle,” she said.

“I do think they get each other because he’s a bit wild at heart.”

Leaving the door open for her own soap comeback, the Welsh actress also said Misty could become a mum with her much older ‘spirit animal’ partner.

“I could come back with a little mini-Rodney, complete with a little neck tie, who knows!” she laughed.

Adding she would be “back in a flash” to work on the soap, Hedydd admitted she might be tempted by a role on another soap such as EastEnders or Coronation Street.

She continued: “Emmerdale has a special place in my heart now… but I’m looking for a job at the moment!”

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays
