Emmerdale actor Ned Porteous has spoken out about the fate of Sarah Sugden who is currently in hospital awaiting a heart transplant.

And it’s not sounding great for the youngster who has battled cancer twice in the past too.
Ned told Inside Soap: “Joe plans a masquerade ball at Home Farm. It’s a fund-raiser for transplant awareness in aid of Sarah, who needs a heart.
“You can expect a fair few emotional scenes as the harsh truth of Sarah’s situation is that it’s not going to get better in the space of a couple of weeks or months.”
He added: “I think the show is doing a good job of depicting the strain on a family when someone is than unwell.
“Debbie and Joe’s relationship is going to come under a lot of pressure, but Joe has realised that he really does love her.”
Sarah has been in hospital for the past few months as she waits for a donor heart to become available.
A devastated Debbie was told that her daughter has heart failure in heart-breaking scenes after the schoolgirl collapsed.
Ned’s comments come shortly after Emmerdale co-star Matthew Wolfenden who plays David Metcalfe in the ITV soap also teased a twist coming up in the storyline.
He told This Morning viewers last month: “That [Sarah Sugden] storyline has a twist to it and it’s going to be absolutely brilliant. It’s coming up in three or four weeks. A big twist.”
Matthew, who plays David Metcalfe, managed to whip fans into a frenzy, with all sorts of conspiracy theories being speculated upon!
Meanwhile, Matthew’s real life wife Charley Webb – who plays heartbroken mum Debbie Dingle – recently gave fans a huge clue that Sarah’s heart failure story is far from over as she revealed she was set to shoot “more emotional scenes”.
The storyline will come after what’s set to be an explosive couple of weeks as serial killer Lachlan White is revealed to be a murderer to horrified Emmerdale residents.
In fact, one fan theory is that Sarah receives a heart transplant from one of Lachlan’s victims… Or even Lachlan himself!

The twist in Sarah’s health scare follows emotional scenes recently when she was told she was unable to have a heart transplant at the last minute.
Fans praised the actors for the heartbreaking scenes, which saw both Sarah and mum Debbie break down in tears.
Will there be a happy ending for the Dingle family at last? Or is more heartbreak ahead?
On This Morning, Matthew also shared that “Joe asks for Sarah’s blessing as he has big plans concerning his relationship with her mother Debbie.
“I think we can all see what he’s going to ask her can’t we?”
Sure enough Joe popped the question to Debbie who – eventually – accepted.
