We bet David Metcalfe will soon be wishing he could go back to the good old days when his adopted son Jacob could barely tolerate his new girlfriend Maya.
Jacob was mortified when David split from wife Tracy and wasted no time in hooking up with Jacob’s teacher, Maya.
But the teenager’s feelings for Maya are about to change massively as he realises he has a crush on his new step-mum.
The week doesn’t get off to the best of starts for Maya really when she’s hauled in by Hotten High head Jessie, who’s become unsettled after hearing that Maya gave Noah a lift into school.
She gives Maya some stern words, telling her it’s unacceptable and is breaking the school safeguarding rules.
Things get even more complicated later when Jacob pushes Noah at the bus stop and Leanna – who is the daughter of Maya’s ex-husband Dr Cavanagh – tells Jessie that Jacob lashed out over Maya.
Meanwhile Leyla manages to convince Maya how much David loves her and the teacher agrees to move back in with him and Jacob – much to Jacob’s delight.
But as David and Maya snuggle up on the sofa together, Jacob realises that he’s developed feelings towards Maya himself. Uh oh.
Matthew Wolfenden who plays David teased that there was a massive storyline coming up for his character and newcomer Maya.
The actor, who is married to Emmerdale co-star Charley Webb, told This Morning summer hosts Vanessa Feltz and Dr Ranj Singh that his character’s blossoming romance with Maya Cavanagh is set to go from strength-to-strength…
“David and Maya will end up together, and there is a big storyline coming up for both of them. It’s going to be huge over the next few months.”
Could this be the start of something big for David, Maya and Jacob?
Watch this space, as they say…
