EastEnders viewers unsympathetic towards Linda Carter’s cancer plight

It's not playing out how they would like

Aw, what a caring bunch ‘Enders fans are. Worried viewers flocked to Twitter after pub landlady, Linda Carter, (played by Kellie Bright) started showing symptoms of the cancer she recently thought she’d beaten.

As the blonde doubled over in pain in the pub’s living quarters, fans immediately thought the worst.

Their worries were confirmed later in the episode when a scared Linda confided in bar manager Woody (Lee Ryan) that her symptoms had returned.

He walked in on her bent over in pain and cornered her about what was going on.

Viewers know that Linda battled cervical cancer earlier this year, hiding it from husband Mick (Danny Dyer) by staying with her mum in Watford.

Despite promising a fresh start and no more lies with her husband after his brief, almost fling with Whitney, Linda still hasn’t found the courage to tell him how ill she’s been.

And it doesn’t look like she’s planning on telling him any time soon if her conversation with Woody tonight is anything to go by.

She told him: “We got on holiday Woody and we were back to being us, happy, the way we were before, any of it.

“How am I meant to pick my time when there is so much I haven’t said now?

“I missed my moment months ago, the first day I lied.”

While Woody accepted that she didn’t plan to tell Mick, he pleaded with her to at least tell him if she thought there was anything to worry about.

“You’re my friend, my boss, I need you,” he said: “And I’ve got a wedding to pay for!

“So tell me, are you having the same symptoms as before, when you got diagnosed with cancer?”

A tearful Linda nodded her head.

Will she finally be able to tell Mick what she’s been through? And what will he say when he finds out that, not only has she kept it from him, but she’s been talking to other people about it too?

Whatever, some viewers are feeling unsympathetic towards Linda’s plight…
