Tamzin Outhwaite’s “fingers and toes” were turning “blue” on the EastEnders set on Tuesday as she filmed in freezing temperatures.
The 48-year-old Walford veteran – who plays club manager Mel Owen in the BBC One soap – was having a “difficult” time trying to shoot scenes whilst shivering in the chilly London conditions, even though she had to pretend it was a nice day on Albert Square.

Writing to her fans on Twitter, Tamzin said: “One of the most difficult things as an actor for me is doing scene after scene, outside, in the cold , trying to talk, walk, hold things and all the while not look cold , while your lips, fingers and toes are going blue and you can’t feel your face. That is today.”
Explaining that the problem comes from the shooting schedule and how far in advance the storylines are set, Tamzin added: “We do work outside throughout the winter but we often wear skirts, heels and flimsy tops, as we pretend it’s a different time of year #lovmyjob.”
Tamzin was accused of “moaning” about her privileged position as a TV actress, but she was quick to dismiss the accusations of her haters.

Tamzin’s alter ego has been put through her paces during the last few weeks of the show, and she will soon make another discovery about her lying partner Ray Kelly (Sean Mahon).
Mel has been plotting against Ray after finding out he has a secret family, including a wife named Maddie Wright (Robyn Page), and secretly befriending her after hiring her personal training lessons.
The soap will see Mel reveal later in the week who she really is to Maddie, and form an alliance to see how the pair can get back at Ray.
