EastEnders star teases secret return of this legendary couple

The pair weren't looking in great shape the last time viewers saw them

Shane Ritchie has hinted he will return to EastEnders.

The actor played Alfie Moon in the BBC soap until 2015 before Alfie and his wife Kat won the lottery and moved abroad.

Alfie and Kat returned briefly in 2016 before leaving to go to Ireland, which was seen on screen in stand alone drama Redwater.

However at the end of the series both Kat and Alfie were left fighting for their lives.

Kat was bleeding to death on a beach and Alfie was flatlining on the surgeon’s table.

But now Shane has revealed the couples’ almost certain death could be written around and the popular pairing could return to EastEnders.

Speaking on Sunday Brunch, he said: “I love the idea of going back but the last time we saw Kat and Alfie was Redwater when Alfie was flatlining on a gurney in Ireland and Kat was lying face down on a beach dead.”

Shane added: “So, to answer your question, I love the idea of going back and I’m sure Jessie would love to, if the storyline was right

“I mean it could all just be a dream and we step out the shower… and Peggy comes back.
