EastEnders SPOILER: Heartbreak for Max Branning as he’s banned from Abi’s funeral

Will he get to say goodbye?

| Updated:

It’s another difficult time next week for Max Branning as the family prepare to say a final goodbye to Abi.

As viewers know, his youngest daughter lost her life after falling from the roof of The Vic on Christmas Day.

She and her sister Lauren had climbed up after Max, who was threatening to throw himself off.

The girls had just managed to coax him down when Lauren slipped, grabbing Abi and dragging her down too.

While Lauren survived the fall, Abi was declared brain-stem dead, and the family finally turned her life support off two weeks ago.

Max’s nightmare is only just beginning however.

At the start of the week he’s frustrated with Jay Brown who doesn’t know – or won’t reveal – any details of Abi’s funeral.

He’s knocked for six when Lauren finally confesses that the funeral went ahead without him.

A broken Max hits the bottle and interrogates Lauren for answers, but she’s giving nothing away.

The grieving father then turns to Jay, pleading with him to tell him where Abi’s been laid to rest, but Jay refuses to tell Max anything either.

He then turns back to Lauren and tells her he’s going away for a few days, but Lauren panics when Max starts grilling her again and it soon becomes clear that the funeral hasn’t happened – he’s just not welcome there.

Lauren then tells her dad that Tanya has refused to attend Abi’s funeral if Max is there.

An angry Max keeps pushing Lauren, but she warns him he’ll lose her too if he doesn’t let it go.
