EastEnders viewers guess how Stacey Fowler will leave Albert Square

Lacey has played Stacey since 2004

Earlier this year, EastEnders actress Lacey Turner announced that she was expecting her first child with husband Matt Kay.

Shortly after revealing her pregnancy, Lacey opened up on This Morning about her and Matt’s struggle to start a family, revealing she had previously had two miscarriages before falling pregnant a third time.

The actress, who plays Stacey Fowler in the BBC soap, will be taking a break to go on maternity leave and with her due date being mid-July, viewers are starting to wonder how Stacey will leave Albert Square.

On a Digital Spy forum called EE – How is Stacey going to leave? a viewer put: “Surely Lacey will be leaving soon, her bump is way too evident. But I have no idea how she’s going to leave.

“It wouldn’t really make sense for Stacey to leave now, what with Jean’s cancer storyline and her and Martin seeming to be in a good place. I feel like whatever happens won’t make much sense.”

A couple of users suggested she may stay with Sean. One wrote: “She probably goes searching for Sean and finds him and stays with him.”

Someone else added: “She may leave to look after Sean when she finds out he isn’t getting any treatment. Can’t really think of any other reason why she’d leave Jean. Anyone know how long Lacey’s maternity leave will be?”

Another user suggested Stacey may have a breakdown writing: “Maybe with Kush going for joint custody the stress of it plus her mum having cancer and brother awol will lead to a breakdown.”

One user suggested that Stacey may not actually leave. They wrote: “Perhaps she won’t go anywhere and they will just talk about her as if she’s there but we won’t see her.

“They’ve done that kind of thing before – albeit for shorter departures.”

Stacey’s mother Jean Slater was recently diagnosed with ovarian cancer.

A couple of week’s ago, Stacey’s brother Sean returned but it soon became obvious he was struggling with mental health problems.

As Sean and Jean went away on a small getaway holiday, Jean cut her leg and became ill.

Sean went into a barn and took a gun, wanting to take his own life.

Luckily Stacey and Jean arrived and Jean managed to talk her son out if it.

Sean left Albert Square a week after his arrival, going to get the help he needed.

EastEnders is on Mondays and Fridays at 8pm and Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7.30pm.
