EastEnders makes embarrassing blunder with the set of BBC soap

Was someone having a bad day?

Soap fans who settled down to watch an episode of EastEnders were hurtled back to reality when a huge mistake reminded them it wasn’t real!

TV shows pride themselves on transporting their viewers into another time and place, but the BBC soap made an epic blunder on Friday (October 11).

In family scenes at the Fowler household, Sonia was seen going to answer the door – only for her to walk past the bare back of the set!

Just to the right of actress Natalie Cassidy could be seen the false wooden wall which viewers are never supposed to see.

Tacked to it was a typed warning to crew, which read: “Do not set and strike.”

When Sonia returned into the lounge with two police officers behind her, the bare wall was no longer visible.

While some viewers might not have noticed the brief glimpse of set, others did – and responded by sharing the picture on Twitter alongside the laughing face emoji.

And it’s not the first time the character has been involved in an on-set mistake.

Last September, fans pointed out that she would never get £1,000 for her M reg Punto.

It’s been a terrible few weeks for Sonia, after her daughter Bex attempted to take her own life in scenes that left viewers very distressed.

In devastating scenes on October 3, Sonia and Martin’s misunderstood daughter left her own leaving party, locked herself in her room and took an overdose.

No one, apart from Lisa, suspected there was anything wrong with Bex as they all threw a surprise party in The Queen Vic to celebrate her departure for Oxford University.

But viewers had seen her struggling with suicidal thoughts, as she faced an uncertain future.

The pressure to study and ‘make her mum proud‘ had overwhelmed Bex for the past few months and she was left unable to cope with the thought of leaving Walford.

In heartbreaking scenes, Bex did the unthinkable and, after writing a suicide note to her parents, took a cocktail of drink and drugs.

In a drastic change to a normal episode of the BBC soap, there was a flash-forward to the morning after when Sonia found the lifeless body of her daughter in bed.

Many viewers worried whether Bex had died, but thankfully she survived the ordeal.
